June saw another series of milestones on the road to our Vivid Vision including signing up to be accredited to the Living Wage Foundation which sets our lowest wage at £9.50 an hour (as at June 2021). Slightly confusingly this is different to the Government's national living wage (which is age dependent).
We've done this because we want to be known as a fair employer. Not only is it ethical to pay people enough to live on, we also firmly believe that by adopting a range of good employment practices like this, we will attract the highest calibre individuals to drive the company forward.
Not that we're suggesting every day at Benfield is full of rainbows and unicorns. Of course we have difficult times, but this is even more reason to treat people well, because we know good quality team members who know they are recognised are likely to stick around far longer when the going gets tough.
